Vista laptop Wi Fi users only....

Jim

Went to a free Wi Fi cafe yesterday with someone to hook up a laptop
to the Internet via Wi Fi....very first time for both of us!!
It was successful but sure seems liked a lot of steps to get there!!

What we did (using the Classic Start menu):

Start
Settings
Network Connections
Right clicked on the wireless connection shown
Left clicked on Connect/disconnect
Selected the best one from the Wi Fi's shown (which happened to be
where we were)
Clicked that to connect to it
Said to connect anyway since it was not a secure connection
Closed all the windows
Opened IE7

Is there a more streamlined way to do this?????

TIA

Assuming you have a hardware key; when you enable the wifi, a network icon
should appear in the bottom right of the task bar (by the time. looks like
two computer screens). Right click, "Connect to" voila.

It may be different, but get used to the new start menu. It takes some
adjusting but streamlines the process of finding apps, if you know what they
are.
