I recently installed a Netgear router for a client. She has a Medion
laptop that you have to manually enable the wireless antenna. For some
reason it is very stubborn about automatically connecting to the
wireless network, and then when it is connected in the task bar it
still shows a red X over the connection (but the connection works
fine). When she went to work and tried to get onto the wireless
connection there it wouldn't let her so I had to have her hardwire into
the system there. Is there something I am missing here?
TIA

have a medion laptop as well. occasionally it shows as not connected when it
really is. I disable and re-enable the wireless adapter and it works fine.

Perhaps your network at work is secured by mac id or you may need a key from
your administrator.

There is several levels of wireless network signals. You need to make sure
that the wireless router and the wireless antenna/card both can use the same
level.

Levels of wireless networking:

802.11a
802.11b
802.11g

802.11g -- extreme 108 MBPS

and the still not ratified

802.11n.
