Wireless problem internal vs. USB device

On a laptop with XP the internal (Intel) wireless was not working so I bought
a Buffalo Air Station and it was working great. Now all of a sudden the Inet
internal wireless came to lfe (I did not change any settings) and the Air
Station connected in the USB port will not connect to the wireless network.
If the USB device is connected the system does not seem to connect to the
wireless network at all. If I just have the Internal system without the USB
device then it connects but is very weak and slow. The USB device seems to
be working just fine because I tested it and it shows no problems and the
computer sees the device as attached/active. The wireless network is working
as I checked it with other computers.

All I can think is that when the internal came to life it is showhow
overridding/blocking the USB device's ability to connect to the wireless
network? I tried the obvious ways to disable the internal wireless Intel and
when I do that the computer stops seeing the wireless network instead of
conencting via the USB device as I hoped.

I am going nuts trying to convince the computer to use the USB device again
to connect to the wireless network.

Any ideas?

Thanks

SSTraveler,

Why not view your wireless settings & set one to be used rather than both
searching & connecting?

On the Available Wireless Network tab you can select which to use. This
should then solve your problem. You could also disable the internal one via
the control panel. This too would also solve your problem

Thanks but I don't see a way to select one verus the other. The USB device
shows on the system tray (lower right) but that is the only place I see it.
I only have one network but two different wifi modems to connect to it. Even
if I take the computer out of range of the failing internal Intel one the
good one does not connect.

I tried going in via Control Panel and disabling the Intel one and when I do
that it still does not work. I lose everything not just the one that is
connecting. I tried restarting the computer with the internal one disabled
and still nada.

Any other ideas to get the external USB one to connect over the Internal one?
