Wireless KB & Mouse work but system hangs on re-start

I added a raid array controller to my Windows XP Pro SP2 machine and took the
opportunity to re-build the software from scratch.

Everything worked perfectly and I chose to install my wireless keyboard and
mouse last. That worked perfectly (as it always had done), but when I
re-started the machine, it hung before launching XP (black screen with no
messages).

I put the wired KB and mouse and it worked perfectly again.

Then I tried a different wireless keyboard and mouse and again got a hang on
re-start.

Any advice and help would be appreciated.

Steven,

Can you clarify what this statement means:
"I put the wired KB and mouse and it worked perfectly again."

One thing I would do is to re-sync. the wireless keyboard and mouse with the
kb/mouse receiver. It sounds like the startup routine isn't registering the
two devices on boot and is looking for them. also, do you have your wireless
receiver in a usb2.0 port? If not, try that as well.

I will be hooking a wireless keyboard and mouse to my new system tonight so
I will let you know what I encounter.

HTH,

Tim

Thanks Tim.

What I meant was that I installed the wireless KB & mouse and they
immediately worked perfectly. It was only later, when I tried to restart the
machine, that I noticed the problem. It was then a guess that it was the
wirelss equipment causing the problem and when I went back to the wired
alternatives, the problem disappeared.

I will try the re-synch as you suggest and let you know.

I tried the re-synching, but it didn't help. I removed teh RAID controller,
and that fixed the problem.

I'll re-post under 'RAID controller conflicts with wirelss KB & mouse'.

Thanks,

Steven
