Wireless kb & wireless optical Mouse

...but, I hate the new mouse. If I plug in my lovely old Logitech corded
optical mouse (using a USB to PS2 adaptor) it won't work.
It's as though Windows has detected the wireless kb and mouse, and now
nothing else will do !

ATM the wireless receiver USB plug is plugged into a USB port, it's PS2
mouse connector (whose cable comes out of theback of the USB plug), is
floating around in mid air, and my Logitech mouse is plugged into a USB
port, and both work.

But, when I plug a USB to PS2 adaptor onto my corded Logitechs' USB plug,
and plug it into the PS2 mouse port it won't work.

I should add that using a corded keyboard and the Logitech mouse, with
adaptor to PS2 both worked, and I'm sure that I've used this wireless kb
with my Logitech corded mouse, (using USB to PS2 adaptor), plugged into the
mouse PS2 port.

....any ideas, ...TIA

regards, Richard

You have two options:
a) Plug the USB optical mouse into the USB socket on your PC
(which is much better than using a USB-PS/2 adapter), or
b) Reboot the PC after plugging in the PS/2 mouse.

Thanks Pegasus, I did reboot more than once after trying to get the hardware
configuration I wanted, which was:
wrieless receiver plugged into a USB port | with wireless kb working | and
old USB corded Logitech optical mouse with USB to PS2 adaptor plugged into
ATX mouse PS2 port. I'm SURE that I've had it working that way b4 but,
b******d if I can get it doing it again !

The smoothness, lightness and accuracy of this old Logitech corded mouse is
light years ahead of the wireless one that came with the wireless kit. On
top of that the HORRID wireless mouse contains 2 x AA batteries making it
seem to weigh TON and it has REALLY annoying additional "side" left and
right click buttons | located PRECISELY WHERE ones "thumb pad" and "3rd
finger pad" touches the thing to steer it around the mouse pad !

Anyway, ...distant bells are beginning to ring ....I think I had to switch
off USB legacy mouse or kb support in bios ....or something like that. I
shal continue ito fight with it !

regards, Richard ....plus HAPPY Christmas !! :)

regards, Richard
