RAID controller conflicts with wreless Keayboard & Mouse

I just installed a RAID controller on the PCI Bus on my Win XP Pro SP2 machine.

If I use my wireless KB & mouse, the system hangs on start-up (black screen,
no messages). I've tried 2 wirelss sets of equipment and they both have the
same effect. If I use wired KB & Mouse - no problem.

When I temporarily remove the RAID controller - no problem with the wireless.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks - I gave it a try, but the folders on teh drives all disappeared. I
may not be brave enough to try to fix that.

Quite odd. What are the connections for each set, wired and wireless ? USB
or PS2 ?

Off the top of my head, I really see no way that should have any effect on
an internal PCI card.

Both sets are USB. I think it's odd too, but it's 100% repeatable and
consistent. If either of 2 wireless KB & Mouse sets and the RAID controller
is connected, I cannot re-start the machine. Each piece of equipment works
perfectly on its own and they all work together if teh KB & Mouse is
connected after start-up.

Thanks,

So....if a wired mouse is connected and a wireless KB it works fine...and
a wired KB and wireless mouse all is fine ?

Is there anything in the system log in the event viewer ?

Good questions. I haven't tried wired and wireless combinations of KB &
mouse, just 2 different paired sets. Not sure how to check system log.

Will look into these.

Thanks.

As a belated update, it turns out that ANYTHING (not just wirless keyboard &
mouse) in this particular USB slot (off the motherboard) while the RAID
controller is installed AND has drives attached causes the failure to restart.

while the RAID

Actually, many older boards have an issue with Drives connected to the USB
while using the non-IDE boot up.

A updated BIOS will fix this in most cases, as can setting the proper boot
order in the bios with the USB device connected at the same time.
