I have two laptops at home, one a Compaq Presario V6000 running Media Centre 05 and a Dell D620 Latitude running XP Pro. Both are connected to the same wireless conneciton. When the Compaq is connected, i open IE and everything works. When the Dell is connected, nothing works. Under Internet Options>Tools>Connections>Lan Settings, i have unticked 'use a proxy server...' as I have to in order to connect but still it doesnt work.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

check the ip address of the laptop, make sure it is set to "automatically find ip address"
also make sure the dns 1 is set to auto too

hope that makes sense

Start -control panel- internet settings

There click connections tab then lan settings at the bottom.

Make sure the only thing checked there is the automatically detect settings.

Apply settings restart browser and see if that works.
