Wireless Internet access

J

John

Forgive me if this is not the correct forum:

We're planning to do some travelling, and will pack the lap-top (Windows XP).

Several locations (hotels, motels etc) advertise free (well, included in the
price at least) Internet access - some wireless.

Question: My laptop has the capability for wired Internet connection built in,
but not for wireless. It does have PCMCIA slots.

Is the PCMCIA card required to use wireless internet access the same one I would
use with a wireless router in the house?

Thanks!

John,

You do need an add-on wireless card, but it doesn't have to be of the
PCMCIA variety. I have a USB type that works very well. This would also
work with a wireless network in your house.

When you get to the hotel, ask them how to access their wireless network.
Most are very simple.
