Winzip / Powerdesk

Hi
I do not know how but I have a copy of Winzip and Powerdesk on my
Windows Me PC.

Very often these software packages open up by themselves when I am
dowloading some software etc.

What is Powerdesk and Winzip ?
Some kind of compressed file ?
Do they go together ?
They seem to open one after the other "I think" on my PC.

Are they good to have ?

Any comments ?

I find it difficult when they open up and I have to use these software
packages..maybe because i am not a techie

Should I get rid of them ?

Please help
Thanks
Tina

Ps i am a non techie

Powerdesk

If you didn't install them on your computer then someone you've let have
physical access to it has install the software. 95-based versions of
Windows don't have security. You'll need to either restrict physical access
to the computer or buy some security software.

Powerdesk is just a sort of souped-up Explorer for viewing files (including
compressed ones like .zip). Winzip creates and opens zipped, that is
compressed, files. Neither program is malicious, in fact they are both very
useful, Winzip I'd say is invaluable for most PC users...

With PowerDesk WinZip is not needed.
