Winxs SP3 creating boot error

Ever since I upgraded my xp to SP3, I often got problem logging in. It starts
okay, key in the password, the desktop looks okay (wallpaper is there,
desktop icons are pretty much okay (some not properly shown), but the status
bar is blue and it's frozen. I waited for a while, nothing happens. So, I
have to press the reset button. The strange thing, when it restarts, it
doesn't say "windows not properly closed". It just went to a normal boot
screen.

Now, it may take 1 reset, but it could also take as many as 6 - 7 resets, to
finally make it work. Sometimes, I just gave up, turn off the PC and waited
for 15-30 minutes before I turn it back on.

This is happening almost everytime I turn on the PC now. I really need help
to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

If it worked fine before SP3, what are you waiting for, uninstall it!

Hi,

Try the fix from the following KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948277

On the top of the page, click "view and request hotfix downloads" and
fill in the info to request the patch from Microsoft.
