Last known good after sp3 installation problems

After installing sp3 my screen got hung on the blue "Please wait..." screen
for hours. Subsequent reboots resulted in the same hang. I elected to boot
from last known which solved the issue. However, PC properties states I have
sp3. Since my last known (I assume) involved sp2, exactly what am I running
now? An sp3 that's been fixed or something else?
