WinXP won't run because file is missing or corrupt...

Have Dell Demension and loaded XP two weeks ago. Few
days ago on start up, a black screen appears and says the
following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

It says that I can repair this file by starting Window
Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.

As I restart, the screen returns to the black screen from
above even though I have the Setup disk in the drive. I
would like to just reinstall XP from DOS or from scratch.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
