WinXP Woes

RN1

I have been using WinXP Pro (SP2 with all the latest updates
installed) for quite some time now but since yesterday, it's causing a
lot of problems by generating STOP error messages.

The weird part is that after seeing the STOP error messages, when I
restart my PC (with exactly the same configuration as what it was
prior to the STOP error messages), then the PC starts without any
problems. Actually there isn't any guarantee that the PC will start
smoothly after the STOP error messages - it may or it may not. The
STOP error messages also get generated while working on the PC.

How do I overcome this problem? It's been very very frustrating to see
those ugly STOP error messages & then restarting the PC hoping
earnestly that it starts after the STOP error messages.

Another thing to note is that WinXP doesn't generate the same STOP
error messages every time; it varies from time to time.

Thanks,

Ron

The addresses usually vary but the stop error codes are generally very
similar when a problem is developing. Please post the stop error codes.
There is little way otherwise to diagnose other than to ask if you have
recently installed anything. The most common cause of blue screens is bad
drivers but hardware failing can too. Also, please post some details about
your system.

Running for a while in a clean boot configuration might help eliminate some
possibilities but the key would be to post back with whatever stop error
codes you have.
