WinXP-->Win2K lost Monitor Drivers for Compaq 7550

I migrated from WinXP to Win2k and subsequently lost the monitor driver for the Compaq 7550 attached to the desktop. Tried most normal methods (including going to Display and Add/Remove Hardware) but can't even seem to find the driver. Downloaded the driver from Compaq and ran the .exe but no dice either. I'm stuck on the Default Monitor setting and my resolution is beyond poor. Any way to get the device manager to recognize the monitor and change the settings?

The problem may be your video display driver, not the monitor driver. Check
in device manager for the type of video card you are using and get the
latest driver for that. You may need to refer to the computer
manufacturer's web site to see if they have a new one for XP.
