If you are an authorized beta tester for SP2, then you should be posting to
the appropriate SP2 beta newsgroup to discuss your issue. If you are not
an authorized SP2 beta tester, then uninstall the beta version of SP2
immediately.

Carey, the beta build of SP2 is available for download to all MSDN
subscribers, so it's not just authorized beta testers who can install/test
beta 1 of SP2.

Aren't there MSDN specific newsgroups for subscribers?

Yes there are but they are developer centric. There isn't one setup for
questions about the Windows operating system or for betas. That, and the
MSDN newsgroups are the exact same newsgroups that you can use when
connecting either using a newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com or using the
web interface.

Hi, despite your personal feelings for people this is not the right place to
post in order to get help with SP2 beta. The OP may post in the correct
beta newsgroup or MSDN newsgroup. If they don't have access to either they
can live with it the way it is, or uninstall it.

Carey does not do well with SP's. Remember after SP1 was released for THREE
WEEKS Carey was still claiming it was still in BETA. I lost all respect for
the MVP program when this jerk was allowed in.

Even so, If you have an MSDN subscription you are most likely using it to
develop software based on a few of the new technologies. Meaning an MSDN
group would still be a good place to start.

It never ceases to amaze me how Mr. Frisch continues to "Shoot from

moments before pounding the keys, he could provide some real help in
this group.

Carey Frisch [MVP]

Informing the OP to repost his question regarding SP2 beta
issues to the proper newsgroup was a correct and thoughtful
response.

And what would your suggestion have been?

MSDN subscribers should know full well to discuss their issues
among their peers within a MSDN newsgroup.

Yeah, I will and post my name to it, This the most
ridiculous statement I have ever heard anyone make,

Windows XP's standard backup utility is not designed to
perform a complete system backup. It is designed to
backup data files and folders.

I would just like some help with my problem, didn't know I was getting into someone's pocket by testing SP2 MR. Frisch.

C

Chris Lanier

I don't get it.

Carey is saying to use a "third party" non-Microsoft program to do complete
backup's. This in no way supports you theory of "His answer will always be
in favor of MS whether or not it is correct."

C

Chris Lanier

Hi, Support is not offered with beta products. It hasn't been released and
is not complete. It is expected that testers run into problems with it.

Hi, Support and help is only offered if you are a valid beta testers. If
you are, log into Microsoft Beta and you will be pointed to the correct
newsgroups.

If you are a valid MSDN subscriber, log into your account and follow the
links to the MSDN newsgroups. The MSDN groups are for software developers.

Beta's of Service Packs are not meant to be used by "everyday people" and
you are now finding out why. The product is not finished and not ready for
release. Therefore only Microsoft employees and people in the beta program
and possibly help you troubleshoot it.

You will only be able to access the groups if you have valid accounts. If
not, you may wait until the final version of Windows XP Service Pack 2 is
released sometime this year, most likely mid year. No official release date
has been set.
