winxp remote desktop problems after matlab 2007b install

Hello everyone,

My computer:
winXP Pro
1GB RAM
P4 HT

My problem:
I began to get licence.dat error -9 when trying to open MatLab 2007a
so decided time to update to 2007b. Installation went as expected but
Remote Desktop on this computer stopped accepting connections
afterwards. I can still open connections to other computers in the
domain but not from these computers to my problem computer.

"Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" is checked in
System Properties and I have verified the computer name. Remote
Desktop was working fine before MatLab installation so I can only
assume this is something to do with Matlab.

further details below...

thanks for any help,
chris
p.s. have also posted this to comp.soft-sys.matlab

Windows error when trying to open Remote Desktop connection:
Remote Desktop Disconnected (title)
The Client could not connect to the remote computer.
Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too
busy to accept new connections. It is also possible that network
problems are preventing your connection.
Please try connecting again later. If the problem continues to occur,
please contact your administrator.

I have tried all the solutions microsoft offers (http://
technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/
83ddcc90-4409-4063-8bac-f5fcb4d1c55b1033.mspx?mfr=true) but these do
not seem to be the problems.

Did you try going to MS update and looking for optional updates? There is an
update to Remote Desktop available I believe. Does Matlab usually run well
with only 1 GB of RAM ? ( I am just curious to know this).
