WinXP Home transition from prior WinXP Pro and Win98 dual-boot pro

I have purchased a new PC, with WinXP Home, SP2 pre-installed by the vendor.
I have also removed the OLD PC's hard disk, without touching anything except
a jumper setting on the disk itself to take it from Master to Slave,
connected it into the new HW as a second HDD and wish to copy old files from
the old configuration to the new. So far, everything copies except those
items contained in the \Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\*.*
and \Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents\*.* folders. These folders
are marked "Unavailable", I think. (The error message text escapes me, but I
cannot see anything below those last folder names).

Under WinXP Pro on the old HW, there were several different users, and I
wish to extract some of that old information to the new personality under the
new HW and SW regime. I also used this PC through several different
operating systems and file systems, since it was dual boot Win98 and XP Pro.
I earlier used WinNT 4 as well on the old HW, before upgrading to XP Pro.

I am unable to use the "Take Ownership" feature that once was available, but
am looking for something like this ability, I think.

Is there something different in the work-around for partitions set up to be
FAT32 vs NTFS vs older file systems?

What do I need to do to copy these protected files into the new setup?

You could/should have ran the file transfer wizard in the old computer
1st,set
as old computer in the wizard, select the files, folders, settings you wish it
to
save, then save the data in a new folder that you create, once the data is
collected,
move the folder to a cd,then run the wizard in new computer, browse to cd.
