Winxp boot freeze

Hi, my computer is 3 years old and its been running smoothly until
now.

It's a 1.0 Ghz x2 processor,
784 MB RAM
40 GB HDD
80 GB HDD
winxp pro

About a week ago, i started to turn the computer off at night, it's
been going 24x7 for the past year before that. and whenever i turn the
computer on when i wake up, it freezes at the windows login screen.
After doing some troubleshooting i decided to reinstall winxp, and it's
still freezing.

Here's what happens:
windows xp welcome screen comes on and the mouse pointer is in the
middle. The HDD LED is on and the mouse cannot move at all. The screen
doesn't change at all. I can change the LEDs on the keyboard (num
lock) too, i have left the computer like this for about an hour and
nothing happens.

When i reinstalled winxp i wiped my c drive clean.
I think this is a hardware problem, maybe RAM related, memtest freezes
when i use it, but that might be because of the dual CPUs. Unless all
3 pieces of my RAM are busted.

Can anybody give me some guidance advice on what to do?

Thanks,

Mark

I Think your mouse is not connected properly.
Check your mouse connection and start up the PC.
