When I try to open a folder I get the error
message "Winword has caused an error. Winword.exe."
It tells me to restart computer, but to no avail in
opening the folder. Any ideas how to correct this?

Hi - there's no such OS version. There's Windows 2000, and there's Windows
ME. And Word/Office has its own groups. Try posting in one for your OS
version or for Office/Word and you'll get more help. Good luck!
