first timer here, maybe I'm impatient, I can't launch WORD (Me 2000)

When I clicked on WORD I got this error message: WINWORD
has caused an error in WINWORD.EXE. Winword will now
close. If yo continue to experience problems, try
restarting youor computer. After I click, then this
message shows up: The WORKS Task launcher cannot acces the
task you selected. Files needed to start the program
maybe missing, corrupted or may have been deleted. To
restore or replace the files, reinstall the program, and
then try starting the program again.

What I did: I installed Norton Antivirus 2004, scanned
the program seperately evem after the the inintial
install, unistalled all of Microsoft Suite, reinstalled
it, scanned the whole hard drive; I guess that's all I
did. The program still won't launch.

My homework assignment is due sooner than I would like it
to be

Any help I could get would be great and so appreciated!
