I am in a Native windows 2000 network and still have WINS
running and would like to remove it. Is there an
repercussions to this and has anyone made such a move out
there that might be able to help out

Thanks

If you have downlevel clients (NT, 9x/ME) or have remote VPN users, you
might wanna keep it. If not, you can remove it pretty easily. Make sure to
remove the WINS server info from your DHCP scope and remove it from all the
servers' IP configs.

All-

I might add that a good idea is to remove WINS from your DHCP options. Keep
WINS running though. This will allow you to see the repercussions (if any)
of removing WINS from your clients.

Therafter, remove the static WINS settings on the servers. If all goes
well, you can then remove and uninstall WINS from your network.
