winlogin.exe

When trying to logon to Windows XP, I am encountering the
error message.

Windows cannot find 'winlogin.exe'. Make sure you typed
the name correctly and then try again.

I have searched for the file and am unable to find it.

It is looking for the winlogin.exe file, not winlogon.exe
for clarification.

In that case, it's a virus. Do a virus scan with updated software.
