Winlogin.exe

When trying to logon to Windows XP, I am encountering the
error message.

Windows cannot find 'winlogin.exe'. Make sure you typed
the name correctly and then try again.

I have searched for the file and am unable to find it, and
it is therefore making access to internet explorer
difficult as well.

The actual error message says that windows xp cannot
find 'winlogin.exe', not winlogon.
