Windows XP won't keep the default printer!

I am working as a tech and one user has a problem with her printer. Windows
cannot seem to keep the printer as default. The problem is this is her ONLY
printer connected and installed on her PC!

Someone told me to uninstall the printer, then stop the spooler in
administrative tools->Services then reboot but didn't work.

Printer is HP LaserJet 2420.

Anybody else had this problem?
