Windows XP with Windows 2000 Network?

Our network is Windows 2000. We are purchasing laptops
with Windows XP Home Edition. Will the laptops be
compatible with our network?

Of course! They work fine here on my network.
I have heard that if you have more than 5 Home versions of XP running
that a 6th will NOT connect to the network. I don't have that problem
soI can't answer that. But I have 2 computers with XP Home running and
13 with Windows 2000 running including some with SP4, and everything
works fine. They all see each other and can share files and folders
just fine.

If you have a domain, you need Windows XP Pro. Home can't join a domain. I
don't see much value in using Home most of the time anyway.

Nice to know, but I don't think I'd want unsupported tools on a domain. If
one has the chance to order the proper version of the OS, one ought to just
bite the bullet and do it. Plus, Remote Desktop is good stuff.
