When i try to boot up my laptop it takes for ever to get to the Windows Xp
loading screen and then just sits there and never boots fully up. I am
wondering what that is and is it fixable?

Install xp cd,boot to xp cd,press r for recovery,select 1 For C: Press enter
for password,type:FIXBOOT Agree,type:CHKDSK C: /p type:EXIT Let xp
start-up,remove cd.

Before <<Install xp cd,boot to xp cd,press r for recovery,select 1 For C:
Press enter
for password,type:FIXBOOT Agree,type:CHKDSK C: /p type:EXIT Let xp
start-up,remove cd,>>>, try booting into safe mode. If you can boot into
safe mode, do a system restore to a known good restore point.

I cant even get that far during start up. Now im turning it on i get the
brand of computer logo screen and it sits there for about 5 mins and then
goes to a black screen with a white underlining curser.

It sounds like your hard drive has failed. I'll give you general
hardware troubleshooting steps but a more practical solution would be to
contact the laptop mftr.'s tech support for repair/replacement. This is
not a Windows issue (software).
