Windows XP via RIS

I have a few questions.

Can anyone point me to some good web sites for creating a RIS image? I am a
bit confused on the steps needed, such as if you create the RIS image
directly from a windows cd (slipstreamed) or if you can install windows xp on
a machine, make sure all the drivers are loaded, update with all the patches
and install some needed apps and create the RIS image from that? I will be
setting up a RIS server in our lab to test things out, but any additional
info would be great. I have read through some of the KB's but most of them
are pretty limited on the information they provide.
