Deploying Windows XP with RIS refuses to install NIC drivers.

I have checked thousands of on-line resources. Hundreds of blogs and
documents. Every single Microsoft document ever published on the subject.
I've never been able to resolve this problem.

We are using RIS to deploy Windows XP. When creating the host computer for
re-imaging later, I first install bare Windows XP using RIS.

When first installing bare Windows XP using RIS, it NEVER installs the
network drivers. I always get a prompt during the driver detection phase
requesting location of the drivers.

Is this something that was overlooked by Microsoft? Some fault in their
programming that they never fixed? Is there a workaround?

Never had any problems with NIC drivers.
Text mode drivers are added to the i386 folder, and Win drivers to
C:\drv\nic and referenced in OemPnpDriversPath with OemPreInstall=Yes.
