While installing an automatically downloaded upgrade consisting of 10
upgrades, the first one failed to install and delivered the following error
message of which I have a picture of the screen where these error messages
were displayed. Probably can't attach them here but can send to anyone who
wants to see them.
Error Message #1:
SL4.tmp - Common Language Runtime Debuffing Service
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0xbdc (3036, Thread id=0xbe0 (3040.
Click OK to terminate the application.
Click Cancel to debug the application.
Error Message #2:
Updates were unable to be successfully installed
The following updates were not installed:
Security update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1
(KB886903)
Can anyone tell me if this is critical or a work around. I tried to install
it twice with exactly the same results.

Hello Bill,
Common situation with a very simple solution, install Microsoft Windows
Scripten. In the Microsoft Search for Box type - Windows Script 5.6 -
installing that application will resolve your OS conflict issue and then all
updates will properly install.

Hello Bill,
Likely you are aware, but just in case, XP Office has two new important
Critical updates, although, Windows Scripten 5.6 will indeed rectify your
other issue.

Thanks FireWall2!
Appreciate your response and will do as you suggest.

FireWall2,
Hate to bother you again but I am still having no luck in getting
KB886903 to install. It keeps showing up on my task bar and
I keep getting the same error(s). I did download and install
Scripten 5.6. Also, now my System Restore won't run. Get
rstrui.exe 5.1.2600.2180 srrstr.dll error message. Are my
two problems possibly connected? I also tried to call MS
Support and got an SRX ID number (on the phone) but
cannot now figure out how to contact anyone with respect
to this SRX ID number. Do you know how I can do this? I
realize that you can't know everything - but if you can
help me with anything I would appreciate it. Another post

Good morning Bill,

Did you ever resolve this problem? I'm going through the same issue w/ .NET
Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. Any help that you can shed on the issue would
be greatly appreciated.
