I just upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP Home
Edition with Service Pack 1. After the upgrade everything
works fine except for the following.
1. When I use Windows Update it connects to the internet
and then stops with the following in the
address, "windowsupdate.microsoft.com/?Start". The
computer just sits there.
2. When I go to User Accounts the display screen is
blank, no users display on it.
3. Windows Media Player won't work.

Can anyone help, I've tried to search the Knowledge Base
bun I have not found an answer.

Thanks, Bob Burke

Try here - ms had to change some site addresses and redirects because of
viruses that attack windows update:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

Did you create a user account or are you using the hidden administrator
account?
3. Windows Media Player won't work.

Errors? What happens?
