Problem Description:

We are facing a peculiar problem in windows xp professional while logging in

After the applying computer settings screen it takes more than 30 minutes
for logon to windows. Some times it logon's quickly. At the time of taking long
time we unplugged the network cable from the machine. The system gets login

Deleted the old profile and recreate the new one. This problem occurs for
three users only. But the same user can able to login to windows 2000
professional quickly.Sometimes the same user can able to login to Windows XP

You say "DNS server is working properly" but perhaps you have your DNS
set up incorrectly. Long logon times with XP workstations are usually
because of incorrectly configured DNS. The server should only look to
itself for DNS with forwarders set up for Internet access. Some people
say that you should not use your ISP's nameservers for the forwarders
also. The workstations should only look to the server for DNS.

Further to Malke's suggestions look at Warning / Error Reports in the
System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the period of the
overlong startup. Look a the Services involved and what they are
dependent on and what depends on them.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.

(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.
