Windows XP startup disk

Hi, I have created a windows XP startup disk. But it's not as good as the
one that comes with Windows 98/Me.
Win 98 startup disk let's you access the CDRom drive. But the Win XP bootup
disk does not let you see the CD Rom drive.
I need the Winxp bootup disk because it can see the NTFS partitions. Is
there any Win XP bootup disk that access the CDRom drive or can I configure
the bootup to see CDRom drive??
