Windows XP startup disk

What is the Windows XP startup disk. Is it a floppy or a cd.
My machine doesn't have a floppy drive. When my machine has a - STOP:
c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly
with a status of 0xc0000013 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has shutdown., how do I get started again.
Am I barking up the wrong tree or what?
Please Advise.
Thank You

your startup disk is the xp cd and you must boot from the cdrom/dvd drive.
It may or may not do it depending on how your bios is setup to boot.
If it doesn't boot you must go into the bios and change the boot sequence.
If that is what you want to do.

Does this error recur when you attempt to start up the computer?

If so then next time you turn it on start tapping the F8 key rapidly
just as soon as the first information of any kind shows on the screen
and keep tapping until the Windows XP Startup Menu appears.

Choose "Last known good configuration" from the menu.

If that doen't allow the machine to start up try again and this time
choose Safe Mode from the menu.

If it starts up okay in either of these modes then use System Restore
to set the system back to the most recent restore point that is prior
to the onset of this problem.

Did you install anything new recently that might have triggered this
error, or perhaps restored your entire system from a backup image?

Good luck.

Norton GoBack was the culprit. When I attempted to start the computer, I got
the Autochk program not found. Skipping autocheck. and the inevitable Blue
Screen. When I first started using GoBack, I simply clicked repair or disable
GoBack. This time I was prompted for a password I didn't have and GoBack
would not allow the startup to continue till I entered the correct
password?!? Classic catch 22. Symantec technical came through and walked me
through the process of forcibly removing GoBack from the MBR. My concern
about the startup disk is because to initiate 'repair the MBR,' I have to "
Insert a Windows Startup disk in the floppy disk drive and restart the
computer."?? Right? or have Startup disks been replace in XP pro by the
Windows Recovery Console? It's a lot of stuff. But I do know what
precipitated this particular error; I'm just trying to prepare for the next.
Thanks again for your help.

Immediately following the error message above, the next error message will
appear:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly
with a status of 0xc0000013 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
