I recently updated to service pack 3, now every time I reboot or start up the
computer I get an error message that windows performed an invalid exception
no disk. also while downloading music from the net I get failed download
messages that the security storage for media player 11 is not working, I have
tried the re install of the security certificate or patch but sill get this
error. can someone tell me what I need to do to resolve these problems or do
I need to drop back to sp2?.

I recently updated to service pack 3,

No, you didn't. SP3 isn't available yet, and what you installed was a
pre-release test version of SP3.

No surprise in any of the above. When you install a pre-release test
version of software, problems are what you should *expect*. If
Microsoft didn't expect it to have problems, it would be a released
version, not a pre-release version.

Go back to SP2 and await the final version of SP3. SP3 is still beta.

Windows XP SP3 is not full release yet. It is "pre-release"... This means
"not finished, not supported" and "do not install on any machine you are
ready and willing to lose completely and/or rebuild from scratch without any
hope of ever recovering anything at all from it" <-- if that last quote
does not describe your situation - you made a mistake and you need to
correct it. ;-)
