Windows XP SP3?

R

RobbL

A while back (early September 2007) I read in here that Microsoft was
releasing Windows XP SP3 in about two weeks...is that still a 'go' or does
anyone have a new timeframe?

Thanks in advance.

A pre-beta build of Windows XP SP3 was released to a select group of testers.

And the reality is - it is all rumors... Check out this link:

..... dated October 06, 2005 about SP3 rumors. It never ends nor is it
something anyone should be overly concerned with. I install XP quite often
and since I integrate all the updates I can into the media *and* unattend
most other setups (or apply images) --> when SP3 is released (or if it ever
is) really isn't a concern to me. Sure thing or not - if/when it happens,
it happens. 114 less downloads and maybe a few features to give Windows XP
a little more life time... *shrug*

Just ignore all links given by Engel because they have no relevance to
your question. The only link relevant is that on Microsoft website:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/servicepacks.mspx

Incidentally, the date given on M$ website is still preliminary so
expect to get something either end October or early November!!! Watch
the space!!!

You can't rely on anything given by third party.

You are saying what Engel, in fact, said in his message, which apparently
you didn't read.

His second link was the same as yours.

And you are handing out information which is different from what is at the
website--so how are we to weigh that?

I think Engel's post was balanced and gave good information, including
Microsoft's published dates. I also agree that we may see this sooner than
those dates.

Your resemblance to your chosen handle is increased when you criticize
Engel's post, asking us to avoid the rumor-mongers, but then provide your
own rumor.

But there has been a SP3 release for Office 2003 during the latest
Microsoft Update run.

That's your opinion and it doesn't count! Are you the one receiving
lots of spywares? Perhaps you should refrain taking advice from Engel!!

No I am not not. Can't you read?

His second link was the same as yours.

Perhaps it was. That is the only link that can be relied upon.

I was told by Microsoft UK that Service packs have started to go out for
various products. Office, and Visio are already out. They told me
expect to receive Windows within the next 6 to 8 weeks. This was at the
beginning of September 2007. I have to accept this because I have
indeed received SP3 for Office 2003. Have you or is this pure academic
for you?

That's your opinion and I don't have to agree with it!

I don't provide any rumours nor do I have any time for chit-chat! I'll
leave this for you and your idle mates on these NGs.

Goodbye for now Mr Sanderson!

A general peruse of your recent posts has convinced me you are incapable of
actually thinking. Further more, I'm bemused how you ever managed to
purloin that MVP bauble!
