Right-click on My Computer, and choose Properties. On the Advanced tab,
click on the Settings tab in the Startup and Recovery section. In the
"System Failure" section, remove the checkmark from "Automatically restart".
Choose OK back to the desktop. If the cause is a crash, this will let
Windows show you the error messages.

However, if the system is just shutting down - this is sometimes a hardware
problem, specifically a memory fault that occurs under specific types of
load. You'll need to test the memory, perhaps with memtest, to determine
if there is a fault.

If so, consider replacing the memory with known-good modules.

If you get a STOP error, the first couple of lines are actually relevant
most of the time. Those are the number of the STOP error, the text with
it, and the three or four sets of numbers in brackets. For example:

STOP: 0x00000009 (parameter, parameter, parameter, parameter)
IRQL_NOT_GREATER_OR_EQUAL

or

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Stop 0x0000000a (0x0227001d, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804eba3a)

If you can capture that much information and post it here, you might well
get clues as to the cause of the problem.
