Windows XP Setup hangs again and again

Hello all,

I had troubles getting my windows xp pro started, so I booted with my
windows xp installation cd, selected to repair the existing
windows installation, and my computer restarted with the
windows xp setup.
When getting to 39 minutes remaining, setup hangs and nothing is
changing except the teasers and the progress bar.
Using Shift+F10 I got a cmd and checked the setupapi.log file for
changes, but after 30 minutes nothing has changed.

Here are the last few lines of "setupapi.log":
-----------------------------------------------------
#I140 Installing device class: "Volume"
{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}.
#I141 Class install completed with no errors.
[... TIME ...]
#-199 Executing "C:\WINDOWS\system32\setup.exe" with command line:
setup -newsetup
#I140 Installing device class: "VolumeSnapshot"

#I141 Class install completed with no errors.

#I140 Installing device class: "WCEUSBS"

#I141 Class install completed with no errors.
-----------------------------------------------------

Every time I restart, xp boots to setup.
How do I exit this loop and boot my xp?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Rich,

thanks for your answer, but that's exactly what I did. In fact, I
consulted Michael's site before starting to install.

Hi Rich,

Unfortunately the result is the same. Now the only thing connected is
the AGP graphics card (apart from cd/dvd drives and hard disks which
are connected via atapi).
Time lasts at 39 minutes. This is nasty. :-(
