Windows XP Refreshes Constantly

Hi, I hope someone can help with this problem. I have a
Windows XP Pro machine that is giving me problems. Every
few seconds the hour glass appears for a few seconds and
then dissappears. That's not a problem unless you're in
Word because when the hour glass appears, anything you
type does not show up and then when the hour glass goes
away, it returns to normal but the stuff you typed is not
there. I don't know if this makes any sense but I can't
figure out what it is. It's not Norton because I have
Norton running on 48 machines without any problems.
Anyone have any ideas????
Thanks
Kathy

Something is running in the background. Look in Task Manager at the
applications and processes. You didn't say what version of Office you
are using, but I believe that Office has an indexing function (FindFast
in older versions) and that might be what is giving you trouble. Also,
you might try turning off XP's Indexing Service, too. Since you say you
have Norton, I assume you know your computer is virus and spyware-free.

Even though norton is running on other computers they may not be running the
same version. You might want to try right clicking on the shield icon in
the notification area and uncheck realtime scanning or whatever it is named.
I know of this problem with older versions of norton.

Worth a shot no?
