Windows XP Pro x64 Edition -- Too slow

Have just installed the 64bit edition for evaluation. Recognized the
following issues:

1. Boot: 2min for applying the computer settings, another 2min for applying
the personal settings.

2. Starting Windows Explorer or IE needs 12sec after mouseclick to bring up
the window. Even if the window opens momentarily, the content needs more
than 10sec to shop up.
After that the open window reacts on mouseclicks as normally expected.

Have admin rights and a powerful hardware, so there should not be a
reduction, but an increase compared with the 32 bit XP Pro.
Does anyone recognize similiar behavior? Which approach?
