Windows XP Pro wont load completely

When I turn on the computer, it loads up to the point where it asks for the
logon password. At that point, since no password is stored, I just hit enter
and it starts to load but then the screen just goes black but the power is
still on as if the computer is still running. I've tried to boot with my XP
disk to run the repair OS feture and it does all of the presetup stuff and
freezes when it gets to "Setup is starting Windows" along the bottom of the
screen.

I don't know what to do to fix this problem. I would greatly appreciate any
help I can get.

Thanks, JonnyG72

Hi

Try booting into Safe Mode - keep tapping the F8 key after a reboot - to see
if you can perform a System Restore back to a point before the problem
started.

Hey there

I tried to boot into safe mode but it just stopped on
c:windows\system32\drivers\mup.sys and did nothing else.

I have the exakt same error ..... stops on mup.sys and restart
Making me nuts .... tried repairing with chkdsk /r .. no result

Let me know if you find the solution ..
