Windows XP Pro Network

I'm encountering some sporadic behavior with my home network and was hoping
to find some answers here. Here's the set up:

- One desktop machine with a wireless network adapter 802.11g
- Two laptops, both with wireless adapters 802.11g (one laptop XP Pro, the
other W2K)
- One four port ethernet router
- One wireless router 802.11g

I've got the cable modem plugged into the four port, have the wireless
router plugged into the four port. I'm able to connect to the internet from
every machine.

But for some reason, one minute I'm able to see all my machines in my
Network Neighborhood..then suddenly I'm unable to. Same thing goes with the
wireless router itself. I have a linksys router. You should be able to enter
an i.p. address of 192.168.1.245 which is the ip of the router. This brings
up the admin page of the router. For some reason yesterday it worked fine,
now all of a sudden I can't see it.

It is COMPLETELY sporadic. Again, I'm able to connect to the internet just
fine. Inever had these problems when I washard wired into my four port.

Any suggestions??????

The wireless newsgroup would be a better place to post. But wireless networks
work best when at least one computer (desktop would be the best) is connected
to the wireless router by ethernet cable at least until you can run the
network setup utility. You can skip the four port router completely. Setup
should like this: Modem to wireless router and the desktop's ethernet card to
the wireless router and the laptops wirelessly.

It would also help to ensure that you have the latest firmware for the
Linksys router and 11g NICs. Check the Linksys for more information. I might
be wrong but I remember that there were some DHCP issues with earlier
firmware on some routers (possibly Linksys) so you might need to upgrade the
firmware.
