Windows XP PRO Install

If I install a Full OEM CD Version of Windows XP Professional on my computer,
what will happen to all of my existing programs ?

I currently have Windows 98. There are also 5 - 10 other software programs
( EXCEL, WORD, PhotoShop, etc ). All are on the C: drive.

If I do a full install of Windows XP Pro, could I somehow save these other
programs so they could still be used after the install ?

Normally OEM will perform a Clean Installation only.
All programs will need to be reinstalled.

You need a retail version of XP to do an upgrade install. A full install
means cleaning off the hard drive and completely replacing its contents with
the new OS. If you look on the OEM it probably says "For a new computer
only," meaning a blank hard drive.
