windows xp pro boot problem

Running XP PRO and have a Lexmark x1155 all in one printer connected. The
latest printer drivers installed. Majority of the time when turning the
computer on the system will not boot up. Disconnect the printer (USB cable at
the printer end) and the system boots up with no problems. Any ideas ?

Have you looked on the printer makers website at their help files? If you
didn't see anything there did you email their support?

Bios may be looking for usb bootable device actively, and going retarded
over it.
may be worth checking

Waiting for reply from Lexmark e-mail support, will try updating USB drivers.
Not sure how to check what you suggested bgd.

Received reply from Lexmark, "The primary cause for a computer lockup upon
inserting a USB cable or the computer not shutting down or starting up
correctly unless the USB cable is removed could be an electrical grounding
issue with the motherboard's USB connections. To ensure the problem is not
your motherboard, try the printer on another computer and use a different USB
cable. If it still fails,
please let us know, as this may mean you have a faulty printer." Tried the
printer on another computer and it works fine. Now I have to find out how to
chaeck the grounding issue they mention on the motherboard.
