Uploading and installing WinXP patch # B839645 on a WinXP
home edition installed on a P4 2.0GHz, 512Mb memory, 80GB
disk machine (Medion), the system appears to operate fine
untill an internet connection is attempted (either IE or
Netscape 7.1). An attempt is made to connect to the home
page, however the connection is never made. It just tries
forever without success. This is the second patch that had
done this - with the first about a year ago. I wish you
guys would check and test these out. You want to patch
systems automatically - forget it!!!!

Also the add/remove software for MS patched does not list
install dates and times. I had to go to the windows
directory and get the DTG off the deinstall directory for
each patch number. How about some configuration management
at the user level?

You might want to post this to the experts in the Windows Update Newsgroup:

Thanks, but I am quite tired of Microsoft's web site. It
is nearly impossible to find what you really want. I
would have thought that they would have had a group for
WiinXP patches, but it is obvious that they consider
everything that they do perfect....

Actually I just might do that on second thought.

You missed the point.
The link you were given it for the windows Update newsgroup.
as in patches.

That's what I gave you, the newsgroup for windows updates, not a website
article.
