Win Updates Tue 2/13 Internet problems

Windows updates from Feb 13 kept reminding me to update.
On Sat. Feb 17 I decided to update, download and install.
As soon as I did that, regardless of what Browser I used (IE7, Firefox,
Netscape), the system would not connect to the Internet.
After lots of attempts, I decided to call a friend using the same ISP
(Comcast) and they had no problems connecting.
I did a System Restore to a retore point before the Windows updates.
I had no problems since, but the patches are still waiting to be installed.
Obviously the problem does not occur on all computers, but I am afraid to
install them again. Anybody with bad or good experiences with these patches?

Install them ONE at a time... Rebooting after each one.
When/if you get the problem again, Uninstall that one, come back here and
let us know which one caused the issue.

Did you install via Automatic Updates or Windows Update website?

Did you install any Optional updates?

Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode?

To start IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or

Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

If you uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6), does this
behavior persist?
