Windows XP logon is taking too much time

Windows XP is taking too much time to logon to the desktop after I
logon.

In the past it appears to be linked to some network issues, like DNS
etc.

Is there some way to diagnose the issue?

I'd look at Leonard's suggestion, but define "too much time."

Hi vfclists,

I would suggest to remove unwanted startup programs
run - msconfig - startup - remove unwanted programs

I would also advise you to keep your desktop free ie dont keep any files or any programs
Note short cuts can exist but not data.
