Windows XP keeps crashing/freezing

How come my Windows keeps crashing/freezing??
It keeps coming up with "Virtual Memory low" but its a
1.1ghz 20GB PC..it won`t even let me ctrl,atl, del either
i have to pull the plug ??
Any info would be helpful

You can first remove all of your temporary internet files folder, and temp folder.After that perform scandisk full inspection, and after that harddisk defragmenter.Put your virtual memory settings on auto configuration(Windows optimizes your memory automatically.Try those
