Windows XP Install

I am currently running Windows ME on my PC and want to
upgrade to XP. I have installed the upgrade, managed to
activate and now it fails on bootup with "viaide.sys is
corrupted". Anyone got any ideas?

Try to boot into the Safe Mode and run the System File Checker from
here with the command
SFC /scannow
