Windows XP ICS problems.

Hi, I am using windows ICS to share a high speed cable
connection with 5 people. It has been working fairly well
with the exception of one problem. The problem is that the
clients are unable to go to some pages. I know the pages
are working because when you browse to them on the server
they come up w/o any problem.
What happens is that the page just seems to time out. This
is the first time that I've had this sort of problem
originally I was using a program called Sygate Office
Network. With that program I experienced similar problems
which led me to try Windows ICS. When I first started
using ICS I also was unable to browse some sites from the
clients, but found that if I just hit reload numerous
times, the page would eventually load. After a while the
problem seemed to go away and I've been using ICS problem
free for about 2 months now. But after I restarted the
server the other day the problem seems to have returned.

One difference is that before the page would not load and
you would instantly get a message saying something about
the page not being available or whatever, (and hitting
reload would eventually make the page load) but now the
browser searches for 15 or 20 seconds before timing out and
no amount of reloading will make it load.

If anyone could give any suggestions, it would be greatly
appreciated!

For sharing a broadband connection with that many computers, you should
really use a router instead of ICS. Netgear makes a very nice one, as
does Linksys.

I know I know... But I don't have that option at the moment.
Any idea's?

If you continue to use the buggy MS ICS software, you are continually
going to run into buggy problems like this. ICS is iffy at best.

A router is the best way to go. You do have the option; you choose
not to go that route. That's your perogative, but remember that the
problems you are epxeriencing with ICS won't get any better.
