Windows XP Home "Upgrade Version" Install

I have a computer with Windows 2000 on it. It also has a
virus on it. Can I erase the hard drive and install XP
Home upgrade without installing Windows 2000 back on it?
Will it promp me for the Windows 200 disk or register
number?

Yes you can do a complete reformat and install with the upgrade CD it will
ask you to insert a previous version for proof of ownership,(restore disks
do not qualify)
